Livestream show! With a band! This month!

Juliana returns to her internet concerts on Wednesday October 20, 2021 at at 6pm EDT (that’s 11pm BST, midnight CEST 😬) on Q Division’s YouTube channel.

Writing on her official site:

I will play electric guitar and sing, Chris Anzalone will play drums, and Mike Oram will play bass and sing some harmonies. This is the lineup that was set to go on the road before we had to pull out of the tour with Soul Asylum and Local H.

We are all fine (thanks for asking!) and we will be playing an assortment of songs chosen from the buffet of my vast, decades-spanning repertoire.

So no full album show this time, but the pay what you want deal remains with donations being accepted at julianahatfield.com

Upcoming Livestream Performance #6 - Blood Release Party - May 8, 2021

Confiriming her announcement during last week’s livestream for In Exile Deo, Juliana will be back at Q Division Studios on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 4pm EDT to perform songs from the new album Blood.

Writing on her official website:

This show will be a bit different than the previous ones in that I will not be performing a whole album start to finish. I will play a handful of songs from the "Blood" album, but I will also pick a selection of songs from my vast decades-spanning repertoire that all somehow touch on the idea of blood. ("Anemia" will be one of them.)

As ever, this is a pay what you want affair with donations accepted via julianahatfield.com

Upcoming Livestream Performance #5 - In Exile Deo (Solo) - April 24, 2021

Juliana’s 5th livestream show will feature her 2004 album In Exile Deo, live from Q Division Studios.

The show will be on Saturday April 24, 2021 at 4pm EDT (that’s 9pm BST / 10pm CEST.)

Once again PayPal donations are accepted at Juliana’s official site, and the show will be live on Q Division’s YouTube channel where it is intended to stay online for roughly 2 weeks.

Upcoming Livestream Performance #4 - How To Walk Away (Solo Acoustic / Electric) - March 20, 2021

The 4th in Juliana’s monthly livestream shows will feature her 2008 album How To Walk Away.

Writing at her official site, Juliana says:

I am going to set up both an acoustic and an electric guitar, though I won't be playing them both at the same time (I only have two hands, unfortunately).

The show is scheduled for March 20, 2021 (back to a Saturday slot).

This will again be 4pm local time for Juliana, but time zone aficionados will note this will be in Eastern Daylight Time, so Europeans should consult their calendars. (For instance in the UK we will still be on GMT making this an hour earlier than usual for us at 8pm London time).

You know the score by now but for newbs the show will be live on Q Division’s YouTube channel and stay online for a couple of weeks, with pay what you like PayPal donations taken via julianahatfield.com

While you wait for this show you can read all about the album with the 2008 track-by-track review and more info than you’ll ever need on the How To Walk Away archive page, part of the ongoing revamp of the discography section.

Upcoming Livestream Performance #3 - Only Everything (Solo Electric) - February 21, 2021

They come around so quickly, these livestreams.

Juliana, writing at her official site:

For this third installment I will perform, at Q Division Studios, my “Only Everything” album, start to finish, by myself with an electric guitar and a loop pedal, which will enable me to play some guitar solos over some looped chord progressions (trust me, it'll be fun). It will be broadcast via the Q Division YouTube channel .

The scheduled time is 4pm EST on February 21, 2021. That's the same time of day as before (9pm GMT, 10pm CET) but a different day of the week (it's a Sunday) just to keep us alert.

To help prepare for the show you can familiarise yourself with the majesty of the album with original press reviews and more on the Only Everything discography page:

The solo electric with loop pedal feel will bring back memories for those of us who attended Juliana's European shows in 2006. Check out Carsten and Lieve's excellent photos from back then:

Livestream Show, 10 Aug 2013 - Set List
lstream.jpg

Juliana performed a live acoustic show today, broadcast via Livestream as an exclusive for PledgeMusic subscribers.

There was an unscheduled break halfway through when the stream broke down completely, and although some reported further problems those of us lucky ones without such issues saw a stream that was of a decent quality and Juliana sounding great.

This is the first time she has done anything like this and she seemed keen on feedback with a view to doing more. She said it felt odd not to see or hear her audience response. This, and indeed the whole atmosphere, sound and actual physical experience simply do not translate when the audience isn't in the room. For those of us privileged to have seen Juliana perform in person in recent years this virtual event didn't compare. At all.

So it was best not to think of it as a substitute for an actual gig, be thankful for what it was and as the set was largely made up of requests sent in by pledgees prior to the show, enjoy those live rarity treats.

The setlist:

  • Taxicab
  • Hurt Me
  • Learn To Fly
  • I Picked You Up
  • Make It Home
  • Everybody Loves Me But You
  • Hotels
  • Until Tomorrow
  • Choose Drugs
  • Table For One
  • For The Birds
  • Law Of Nature
  • The End Of The War
